Back to Reality

Hi Again,

Hope that this post finds you well. We are all doing well and had a great week. Joel was still off from yeshiva so we were able to do some fun things around town. It's great to be off during Pesach, but in all honesty, it's even better to be off afterward. We spent one afternoon at the Rose Garden, which was really beautiful and only about a 20 minute walk from our house. We really do live in the most AMAZING location! One afternoon we went to the zoo, which was tons of fun and lots of walking. We even beached it for a day at the beach in Ashdod. The kids had the best time there and it was really empty.

Now we are back to reality....Joel is back at yeshiva, Gavi at gan, and Koby and I are managing to keep busy. We are getting really excited about Gavi's 3rd birthday (I really can't believe that he is almost 3!) when we are going to cut his hair and he is going to start wearing a kippa and tzitzis. He is very excited for the big day, which is May 12th, Lag Baomer. You are all invited of course. If you feel like making the trip we would love to have you there for this special day.

Besides focusing on Gavi's Upsherin (hair cutting party), we have tried some potty training, which has not been so successful. Gavi is pretty resistant. He definitely knows when he has to go, but still wants to take the easy route and use his diaper. I haven't pushed it so much, since he seems like he really does not want to do it. All of the experienced moms I've spoken to say not to push him. I'm going to try a little bit of bribery with him and see if that works. You know a chart with stickers and once he gets "X" number of stickers he'll get a prize. I'll see if he takes to that - otherwise I may just leave it for a while.

Koby is so delicious! He is still not walking - he can stand on his own, but once he realizes he's doing it he giggles and grabs on to something. He is also such a quick, efficient crawler that I don't think he feels the need to walk. He'll do it when he's ready. Hopefully sooner than later because I can't stand how dirty he gets in the park these days! He is also becoming more and more expressive. This morning after he drank most of his bottle and I offered him some more, he looked at me and said the word "no". Normally, he just shakes his head. Now that's progress!

That's all for now. We've been busy with the Gelkopfs for the last few days...more on that in my next post.

Lots of love,

Rachel & Co.

ps We booked our flight to Toronto and we will be there from August 3 - 26th. Can't wait to see you!
